Check out the cover story about our associate’s experience in the recent Maryland Banker magazine. [download id=”68″] Carissa L. Rodeheaver, president and chief financial officer of First United Bank stated, “The Soles 4 Souls mission was a gratifying and fulfilling way for banks throughout the state of Maryland to give back to both our communities and to assist a third world country. People throughout the state contributed their used shoes to enhance the lives of others. Even more gratifying for me was to see the customers, local businesses and the employees of First United embrace this mission. Our initial goal was to collect 6,000 pairs of shoes. We not only surpassed our goal, but First United collected more shoes through our institution than did all of the other banks in Maryland combined! Seeing how the lives of a couple of our associates were changed from first-hand experience distributing the shoes in Haiti and being given 500 pairs of new shoes to distribute in our own communities brought this experience full circle!”
